The conference aims to gather Central Asian experts/analysts to discuss political, cultural, economic and geopolitical processes taking place in Central Asia and tendencies for 2007.
The discussion will be organized in two consequent sessions: “Political dynamics: changes and implications” and “Geopolitics and geo-economics of Central Asia.”
The session “Political dynamics: changes and implications” will touch the problem of political development model choice in Central Asian states. Is the process of democratization related to the establishment of rule-based society, and if so, how? What are the perspectives of a struggle between formal and informal political institutions in Central Asian countries? What models of political-cultural development fit Central Asia best? These and related issues will be raised in the session.
The second session, “Geopolitics and geo-economics of Central Asia” will discuss geopolitical and economic processes taking place in Central Asian countries. In particular, such topics as impact of regional and international politico-military initiatives, challenges of energy resources and their political implications, future of economic relations among Central Asian states will be discussed.
