Call for applications

The Bishkek Press Club (BPC) with the support of the British Embassy in Astana announces competition for students of Journalism department and other social sciences for a School of Regional Reporters. Series of trainings devoted to basics of story making on Radio and TV as well as article drafting on regional issues will launch on October 15th, 2007.

The project foresees round tables and meetings with top level politicians, experts and leaders of businesses and NGOs on various issues related to development of regional journalism.

Project participants will enhance their knowledge not only on international journalism standards, interviewing, TV and Radio material production, media legislature, election coverage but also basic knowledge on the newest directions of media business management, branding, marketing and PR. Seminar participants will also acquire practical skills of regional news coverage through writing articles for the Bishkek Press Clubs news lines www.bpc.kg and practice trainings. Classes will be held in the afternoon. Project duration is three months.

Deadline for applying is October 10th, 2007

- Essay on "Problems of small towns and villages: my vision" (up to 700 words)

Education is free of charge. Upon project completion active participants will be awarded with certificates and diplomas. Number of places is limited.

The Institute for Public Policy is a Bishkek-based independent organization that was founded in April 2005. It aims at promoting formation of a practice of public policy and development of mechanisms of constructive interaction between state institutions, civil society, mass media and businesses. The Institute supports partner relations with many participants of public and political processes and aims at involving the public in the process of decision making.
